About me

Divorce has been the prevalent theme in my life… I first became aware of the ‘D’ word as my parents were separating when I was five. It then reared its ugly head twice more for my Mother and came back to give me the full brunt of its horror when my husband left me for another woman when our sons were aged seven and 16 months.

Needless to say, I have plenty of thoughts on the subject. My intention here is to dig deep and get to the heart of why we construct complex lives together then set about tearing those constructs apart and dragging everyone through our debris – not with any evil intent but as a matter of consequence.

Rather than blogging in any well-planned sequence, I write at whim and raise issues that reflect my own personal experiences over the time since X walked out the door (and from my childhood memories). This means sometimes talking about X and Y, my family, my children and my friends.

The idea is to crack open the often-too-polite dialogue around affairs, divorce and solo/shared parenting. I want to give everyone the opportunity to weigh in and communicate openly and honestly.

So, please feel free to join the conversation at any time.

Lisa
